MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - The Russian northern group of forces thwarted five Ukrainian attempts to break through the Russian border and repelled two Ukrainian counterattacks towards the village of Plekhovo in the Kursk region in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
"The enemy undertook five attempts to break through the Russian border towards the village of Novy Put. No trespassing of the state border was allowed to happen," the statement said.
Additionally, the northern group of forces repelled two Ukrainian counterattacks towards Plekhovo in the Kursk region over the day, it said.
"Units from the northern group of forces continued their offensive and hit detachments of the 21st, 22nd and 115th Mechanized Brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, and 82nd and 95th Air Assault Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 1st National Guard Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, and 129th Territorial Defense Brigade near the communities of Daryino, Lyubimovka, Novy Put, Nikolayevo-Daryino, and Plekhovo," the ministry said.
