MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - A special flight of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has departed from Beirut to Moscow carrying the families of diplomatic personnel stationed in Lebanon, the ministry press service said on Thursday.
"Sixty persons will arrive in the territory of the Russian Federation today," the press service said in a statement.
The evacuation was conducted on orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin and instructions from Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov.
Israel has launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon. Thousands of people were killed, yet Lebanon's Hezbollah keeps fighting on the ground and firing missiles at the Israeli territory.
