BRUSSELS. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Amsterdam has delivered the first batch of F-16 fighter aircraft it earlier committed to supply to Kiev, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said.
"For the first time, I can officially announce that the first Dutch F-16s have been delivered to Ukraine," Brekelmans said on X.
He did not specify the number of aircraft delivered.
The delivery of the rest of the 24 fighter jets the Netherlands pledged to supply Ukraine with "will follow in the coming months," he said.
The Netherlands and Denmark, which earlier vowed to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighters, lead a so-called F-16 coalition, under which Ukrainian pilots are trained to operate such planes.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen confirmed in early August that the first F-16s had arrived in Ukraine from Denmark, and the country intended to send another shipment of such planes before the end of the year. Copenhagen earlier committed to supply Kiev with a total of 19 fighters.
