Russian, Chinese warships practice anti-submarine maneuvers in Asia Pacific

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russian and Chinese naval ships practiced anti-submarine actions in the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean as part of a joint patrolling mission in Asia Pacific, the Russian Pacific Fleet's press service said in a statement.

"A tactical unit of warships practiced maneuvering and moving in formation to organize anti-submarine defense. A Kamov Ka-27PL helicopter was used to look for a mock enemy submarine," the statement said.

The joint tactical unit includes the Admiral Panteleyev and the Admiral Tributs large anti-submarine ships of the Russian Navy and the Xining and the Wuxi destroyers, the Linyi frigate, and the Taihu supply ship of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy.

Russia and China planned a number of combat exercises, including those to practice the organization of anti-submarine defense and rescue operations at sea, during the patrolling mission, it said.

The Russian and Chinese naval ships began joint patrolling missions after taking part in the Interaction 2024 naval exercise earlier this year.
