MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Moscow strongly condemns the Israeli strike on Damascus, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"Israel has again brazenly violated the sovereignty of Syria by making a missile strike on an apartment building in a densely populated neighborhood of Damascus," Zakharova told a briefing.
"We strongly condemn this action, no matter who the target of the attack was, it was carried out on the territory of a third country in a densely populated neighborhood, which leads to unavoidable deaths of innocent people. And it is outrageous that such actions have literally turned into a routine practice used on Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip," she said.
"We again strongly urge the Israeli side to respect the sovereignty of states, to observe fundamental principles of international law. We are pointing out the extremely irresponsible and dangerous nature of this act of aggression, which is evidently aimed at further expansion of the geography of military escalation in the region," Zakharova said.
