MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - The Russian southern group of forces has taken control of Ostrovskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic and repelled 22 Ukrainian attacks over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"As a result of resolute actions, units from the southern group of forces have taken control of Zhelannoye Vtoroye and Ostrovskoye in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.
Twenty-two Ukrainian counterattacks were repelled over the week, it said.
"Troops and hardware of five mechanized brigades, two infantry brigades, an assault brigade, a mountain assault brigade, an air assault brigade, and two airmobile brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a territorial defense brigade, and two National Guard brigades were hit," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 4,790 troops, four armored combat vehicles, 53 trucks, 45 artillery systems, five EW stations, and ten field ammo depots, it said.
"Units from the western group of forces kept moving deeper into enemy lines and taking better lines over the past week," the ministry said.
The group hit detachments of 13 Ukrainian brigades and repelled 23 counterattacks by assault groups, it said.
In the group's zone of responsibility, Ukrainian forces lost up to 2,920 troops, two tanks, 16 armored combat vehicles of other types, 46 trucks, 35 artillery systems, 13 EW stations and counterbattery radars, and 22 field ammo depots over the week, the ministry said.
In turn, units from the central group of forces took control of Grodovka in the DPR and repelled 58 Ukrainian counterattacks over the week, it said.
"Detachments of a tank brigade, seven mechanized brigades, a motorized infantry brigade, two infantry brigades, a jaeger brigade and an airborne brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two marine brigades, three territorial defense brigades, and three National Guard brigades were hit," the ministry said.
In that area, the Ukrainian army lost up to 3,370 troops, four tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles of other kinds, 27 trucks, and 26 artillery systems over the week, it said.
"Coordinated actions of units from the eastern group of forces allowed taking control of Zolotaya Niva in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.
Troops and hardware of seven Ukrainian brigades were hit, and ten Ukrainian counterattacks were repelled, it said.
"The enemy lost up to 780 troops, five armored combat vehicles, including two U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carriers, and 51 trucks. Up to 16 artillery systems, including 12 made by NATO members were destroyed," the ministry said.
"Units from the Dnepr group of forces struck detachments of two mechanized brigades, an infantry brigade, and a mountain assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in addition to a marine brigade and four territorial defense brigade," it said.
According to the ministry, the Ukrainian army lost up to 480 troops, 27 trucks, 14 artillery systems, seven EW stations and counterbattery radars, and four field ammo depots.
