MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Key events of the BRICS summit will be held in Kazan on Wednesday when delegations of member states gather in the narrow and expanded formats.
Participants in the narrow-format meeting will address "the most pressing aspects of the global agenda and exchange views on cooperation between BRICS member states on the world stage, including the settlement of a number of acute regional conflicts," Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said earlier.
Additionally, summit participants "will discuss the situation in the context of further financial interaction in BRICS," he said.
The group's enlargement will be another important item on the agenda. Ushakov said earlier that the work on the status of a BRICS partner state was due to be completed before the summit.
The status "will facilitate a certain process of preparation of new members for their involvement in BRICS," he said.
"We are hoping to finalize coordination of partner state modalities in order to understand who should be invited to cooperate with BRICS and how at the next stages," Ushakov said.
Participants in the BRICS summit's expanded format will assess the state of cooperation in the economy, trade and industries and will listen to reports by BRICS New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff, BRICS Business Council Chair and Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sergei Katyrin, BRICS Interbank Cooperation Mechanism Chair and VEB.RF Corporation CEO Igor Shuvalov, and BRICS Women's Business Alliance Chairperson Anna Nesterova.
The BRICS leaders will adopt the Kazan summit declaration at the end of the meetings.
There will be a gala reception in the evening where delegation heads from BRICS member states and representatives of states attending outreach/BRICS+ format have been invited.
