MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The western group of forces has improved its tactical position and repelled six Ukrainian counterattacks, while the eastern group of forces has improved its frontlines, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
"Units from the western group of forces have improved their tactical position and struck troops and hardware of the 44th and 60th Mechanized Brigades, 74th and 77th Airmobile Brigades, Third Assault Brigade, and the 125th and 103th Territorial Defense Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Boguslavka, Lozovaya, Zelyony Gai, Novoplatonovka, Podliman and Pershotravnevoye in the Kharkov region, Terny in the Donetsk People's Republic, and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic," the ministry said.
Six Ukrainian counterattacks were repelled, and the Ukrainian army lost over 510 troops, four armored combat vehicles, nine trucks, nine artillery systems, and two EW stations, it said.
"Units from the eastern group of forces improved their frontlines and hit troops and hardware of the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade, 72nd Mechanized Brigade, and 46th Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and 110th and 113th Territorial Defense Brigades near Dobrovolye, Alexeyevka and Novoukrainka in the DPR and Temirovka in the Zaporozhye region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 115 troops, two trucks, and five artillery systems, it said.
"Units from the northern group of forces operating in the Kharkov sector hit detachments of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade and 92nd Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Liptsy, Kotovka and Volchansk in the Kharkov region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 100 troops and three artillery systems, it said.
"Units from the Dnepr group of forces hit detachments of the 35th Marine Brigade and 121st, 124th and 126th Territorial Defense Brigades near Ponyatovka, Zolotaya Balka and Kamyshany in the Kherson region, and the city of Kherson," the ministry said.
"The Ukrainian army lost up to 90 troops, an armored combat vehicle, six trucks, a 152mm D-20 howitzer, and a U.S.-made 105mm M119 howitzer. Two ammo depots were destroyed," it said.
