MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russian forces have repelled two Ukrainian counterattacks and thwarted three attempted counterattacks in the Kursk sector over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
"Group units have repelled two counterattacks of the enemy towards Plyokhovo and Pokrovsky and thwarted three attempted counterattacks towards Zelyony Shlyakh," the ministry said.
Units from the northern group of forces are continuing their offensive and have hit detachments of ten Ukrainian brigades near Daryino, Zelyony Shlyakh, Nizhny Klin, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo and Sverdlikovo in the Kursk region, it said.
Helicopters and artillery hit units and hardware of 13 Ukrainian brigades near 23 localities in the Kursk region, the ministry said.
Aircraft and missile forces hit concentrations of troops and reserves of nine Ukrainian brigades in the Sumy region, it said.
