ROME. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Republika Srpska, which is an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will not yield to any pressure that aims to put a strain on its relations with Russia, Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan.
"The sanctions introduced [against Russia] have not achieved the result desired by the West. Unfortunately, sanctions have been imposed on us too. [...] They are trying to influence our positions to make us join what they'd like us to join, the sanctions against Russia, but we are opposed to that," Dodik said.
A few days ago, Republika Srpska spoke against the West's demand for Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce visas for Russian citizens, he said. "This decision is being taken at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but the EU has literally tied the country's further rapprochement with the union to that," Dodik said.
"The BRICS summit showed that efforts to isolate Russia have failed, though they did all they could to make that happen," Dodik said, adding he counts on further cooperation with BRICS and will try to persuade other representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
