Two men hurt in mine blasts in Belgorod region village - governor

BELGOROD. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Two men have been injured in blasts of submunitions scattered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Shebekino municipal district in Russia's Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the region's governor, said on Tuesday.

"One man suffered an injury as ordnance detonated near him. He turned for help to the Shebekino District Hospital on his own, where doctors diagnosed him with multiple fragmentation wounds to both of his legs. After receiving medical help, he was released to undergo outpatient treatment," Gladkov wrote on Telegram.

Another man was badly injured by stepping on a landmine, he said.

"The injured man was delivered to a district hospital in serious condition on a passing-by vehicle. Medics are providing him with all the necessary aid. To receive further treatment, an ambulance team will transport the victim to the regional clinical hospital with an open craniocerebral and a blast injury, broken skull bones, and fragmentation wounds to his legs," Gladkov said.

He once again warned local residents of the danger of mines planted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in border areas.

"Using cluster munitions and drones, the enemy scatters submunitions. This has been the fourth instance of civilians having been wounded this way over the past week. I urge you to be extremely vigilant and not pick up unknown objects," he said.
