Russian FM, Chinese special rep discuss Eurasian security, Ukrainian settlement prospects - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui have discussed bilateral relations between Moscow and Beijing, Eurasian security and the prospects of Ukrainian settlement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the international conference on Eurasian security in Minsk on Thursday.

"The sides gave high marks to the development of political dialogue and practical cooperation between Russia and China amid a high turbulence of the global system," a statement published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The diplomats also "emphasized the importance of speedy and comprehensive implementation of the results of the meeting between the two countries' leaders at the recent BRICS summit in Kazan for the further increase of bilateral comprehensive partnership."

"The sides exchanged opinions on issues relating to the new security architecture in Eurasia, and also the prospects of Ukrainian crisis settlement," the statement said.

"The talk took place in a traditionally trust-based and constructive manner, characteristic of Russian-Chinese strategic interaction," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
