Russian military records 16 violations of Syrian airspace by U.S.-led coalition in past 24 hours

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Aircraft of the U.S.-led coalition continue to create dangerous situations in the Syrian airspace, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Capt. 1st rank Oleg Ignasyuk said.

"Three violations of the deconfliction protocols dated December 9, 2019, by flights of coalition unmanned aerial vehicles uncoordinated with the Russian side were observed over the day," Ignasyuk said at a press briefing on Thursday.

Thirteen violations of the Syrian airspace by coalition aircraft, including a pair of F-15 fighter jets (five times) and three F-16 fighter jets, were recorded in the al-Tanf area, he said.

Positions of the Syrian government forces came under two attacks by the Jabhat al-Nusra and Turkistan Islamic Party terrorist groups (both banned in Russia) in the Latakia and Idlib provinces within the Idlib de-escalation area over the past day, Ignasyuk said.

The center distributed 980 food packages with a total weight exceeding 9.7 tonnes in five humanitarian operations in the Aleppo, al-Raqqah, Idlib and Tartus provinces over the past day, he said.

As many as 4,358 persons crossed into Syria from Lebanon through five checkpoints in the past 24 hours, Ignasyuk said.
