Tokayev expects to plan prospects for Kazakh-French cooperation during visit to France

ASTANA. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has discussed the agenda of his upcoming state visit to France with newly-appointed French Ambassador Sylvain Guiaugue, the Kazakh presidential press service said on Friday.

"The head of state expressed the hope that the visit would help plan new prospects for interaction between Astana and Paris and provide a substantial incentive to strengthening Kazakh-French strategic partnership," it said.

Tokayev congratulated the French ambassador on his appointment to the post, saying that his diplomatic mission would take place during an especially active period in the development of bilateral relations.

"The president emphasized that Kazakhstan attached particular importance to comprehensively deepening its cooperation with France and wished Ambassador Sylvain Guiaugue success in his demanding job," it said.

The Kazakh presidential press service had said earlier that Tokayev would pay a state visit to France at President Emmanuel Macron's invitation on November 4-5. The visit is to include top-level negotiations and meetings with members of the French business community.
