MINSK. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Interpol is blocking putting Belarusian criminals on the international wanted list, Belarusian Prosecutor General Andrei Shved said at a joint board meeting of the Prosecutor General's Offices of Belarus and Russia.
"The relevant agencies of the Western states also often deny extradition of Belarusian criminals, including those who have committed cybercrimes, heavy crimes against people and property for far-fetched reasons," Shved said.
"Putting them [criminals] on the international wanted list is de facto blocked by Interpol," Shved said.
Shved also said this problem concerns not only Belarus, but also Russia, which also often faced politically motivated denials of extradition of criminals.
Most criminals who are wanted and hiding from law enforcement agencies are people who have committed extremist crimes and have evaded conscription for military service, who left the country before a criminal case was opened and are outside of Belarus and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
