Rheinmetall will soon finish building its second plant in Ukraine - Rutte

BERLIN. Nov 5 (Interfax) - German defense company Rheinmetall will soon complete the construction of its second military plant in Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said.

"The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall has just inaugurated the first factory in Ukraine, with a second facility nearing completion soon," Rutte said at a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Rheinmetall has considerably increased ammunition production since 2022, he said.

German industry is crucial to NATO and Ukraine, Rutte said, adding that U.S. and European companies are working together in Bavaria to manufacture 1,000 missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
