Russian Defense Ministry reports safe rotation of IAEA observers at Zaporozhye NPP

MOSCOW. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Russian troops have ensured security of another rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission observers at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The Russian Armed Forces jointly with Russian National Guard units have ensured security of another rotation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission observers at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP)," the statement said.

"For security of IAEA observers along their entire route of travel from the designated site of crossing at the destroyed bridge near the Kamenskoye community in the Zaporozhye region, a ceasefire was declared from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., which was strictly complied with by all Russian service members," it said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have heavily shelled a part of the route along which the mission was traveling to the Zaporozhye NPP on the eve of another rotation of the IAEA observers at the plant, it said. The attack badly damaged the roadbed. "By their actions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command was trying to jeopardize the life and safety of the experts and disrupt the rotation," it said.
