TIRASPOL. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Vadim Krasnoselsky, leader of the self-proclaimed Transdniestrian Moldavan Republic has signed a decree extending the yellow level of terrorist threat in the region for another 60 days from November 7, 2024 to January 8, 2025.
The 'yellow' code has been prolonged "due to the persisting threat of terrorist attack ad the need to continue activities in counteracting the commission of terror attacks," the Transdniestrian press service said.
The Transdniestrian authorities believe that the terrorist attack threat is still there, and it is too early to cancel the threat alert.
This is the 24th time that the 'yellow' code has been extended since late May 2022, it said.
Transdniestria first introduced the red terrorist threat alert effective from April 26 to May 25, 2022. On May 25, 2022, the level of terrorist threat alert was brought down to yellow. From June 8, 2022, the yellow terrorist threat alert was extended every 15 days and from mid-November 2022, every 60 days.
Interestingly, almost all restrictions introduced during the red threat alert have since remained in force. In particular, all key facilities and structures in Transdniestria have been subject to special security and monitoring measures. There remain checkpoints conducting inspections at the points of entry into the region and on the roads leading outside. Law enforcement and security agencies are serving in an enhanced mode. In addition, without a permission from the Transdniestrian State Security Ministry, any flights of unmanned aerial vehicles are prohibited.
