Georgian appeal courts dismiss NGOs' motions for cancelling parliamentary election results

TBILISI. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The Tbilisi Appeal Court dismissed on Thursday every motion from non-governmental organizations for cancelling results of the October 26 parliamentary elections over the alleged flagrant violations.

Almost every application from NGOs claimed a breach of the vote secrecy. They said, in particular, that the choice made by voters in favor of a party and marked on a ballot paper with a black felt-tip pen, was visible from the back and breached the vote secrecy.

In turn, Georgian Central Elections Commission members demonstrated at the Tbilisi Appeal Court hearing, using the electronic voting machine, that no one could see who voted for whom.

The Kutaisi Appeal Court, which processed motions from Western Georgia, made a similar decision and dismissed applications from NGOs.
