Russian submarine calls at Indonesian port

MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Russia's Ufa diesel submarine, accompanied by Alatau rescue tug, has called at the Indonesian port of Surabaya, the Pacific Fleet's press service said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Russian sailors will conduct a number of protocol events," including meetings with Indonesian Navy representatives, while staying in the port, the statement said.

The Russian submarine is en route from the Baltic Fleet to the Pacific Fleet via a southern maritime route, it said.

Earlier, a group of Russian corvettes, comprised of the Gromky, Rezky and Russian Federation Hero Aldar Tsydenzhapov, had called at the port of Surabaya for the first joint naval exercise with Indonesian Navy ships, Orruda 2024.
