MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed a militant base in the Syrian Homs province, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Capt. 1st rank Oleg Ignasyuk said.
"The Russian Aerospace Forces struck and destroyed a base of militants who migrated from the an-Tanf area northeast of Palmyra in the Homs province," Ignasyuk said at a press briefing on Thursday.
Positions of Syrian government forces came under seven attacks by the Jabhat al-Nusra and Turkistan Islamic party terrorist groups, both banned in Russia, within the Idlib de-escalation area over the past day, including four in the Idlib province and three in the Latakia province, he said.
Two drones with improvised explosive devices, launched by terrorists towards positions of Syrian government forces in the Latakia province, injured a Syrian soldier, Ignasyuk said.
Aircraft of the U.S.-led coalition have continued to create dangerous situations in the Syrian airspace.
"One breach of the deconfliction protocols dated December 9, 2019, by a flight of the coalition's unmanned aerial vehicle uncoordinated with the Russian side was recorded over the day," he said.
Nine violations of the Syrian airspace by coalition aircraft, including two pairs of F-15 fighter jets and a pair of F-16 fighter jets, were recorded in the al-Tanf area in the past 24 hours, Ignasyuk said.
The reconciliation center distributed 1,200 food packages with a total weight exceeding 11.9 tonnes in three humanitarian operations in the Aleppo, al-Raqqah and Damascus provinces, he said.
As many as 4,449 people crossed into Syria from Lebanon through five checkpoints over the day, he said.
