Resident of Russia's Yaroslavl region detained on suspicion of treason

YAROSLAVL. Nov 8 (Interfax) - A court in Yaroslavl has ruled to take a resident of Rybinsk in Russia's Yaroslavl region charged with high treason into pretrial custody, the Federal Security Service's (FSB) regional department said.

"It has been determined that the detainee collected and passed information on Russian Armed Forces assets at instructions from a Ukrainian supervisor. Communication devices fully proving his unlawful activities were seized from him during a search," it said.

FSB investigators opened a criminal case on a count of high treason. If found guilty, the suspect might face up to life in prison.
