MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the Federal Security Service (FSB) operation, which thwarted an attempted hijack of a Russian electronic warfare helicopter by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Before they made the information public, the security service briefed the supreme commander-in-chief. This is obvious. Now everything will depend on the president's decision," Peskov told the press on Monday.
As to whether the operation participants will be rewarded, Peskov said, "Clearly, people who conduct successful operations of the kind are far from being public, so the information does not have to be public either."
The FSB public relations center said earlier that it had uncovered and thwarted an operation of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate aimed to hijack a Mil Mi-8MTPR-1 EW helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
