BEIJING. Nov 12 (Interfax) - The partnership and strategic relations between Russia and China is a perfect example of cooperation between two countries, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said.
"This comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction is an exemplar of cooperation between two powers in the modern-day world. Without being a military-political alliance like those formed during the Cold War, relations between our countries surpass this form of interstate relations," Shoigu said at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Russian-Chinese relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, trust, non-interference in each other's internal affairs and on support for each other in key issues, he said.
"Today, Russian-Chinese relations, which are the relations of all-round partnership and strategic interaction, are at an unprecedentedly high level over their entire history. Russia and China pursue similar approaches to key international and regional problems," Shoigu said.
Shoigu also thanked the Chinese authorities for supporting Russia's BRICS presidency.
"We are grateful to Chinese friends for their consistent support for the Russian presidency of BRICS and of course for Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to attend the [BRICS] summit," he said.
Shoigu said he expects the two countries' productive dialogue on a wide range of international and regional issues to continue in a constructive and a completely trusting manner.
"The significance of our regular contacts in the format of relevant bilateral consultations is increasing considerably amid growing global instability. I stand ready to continue making joint efforts to implement the agreements reached by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping based on the outcomes of the negotiations between the heads of our states in Moscow," he said.
