Participants in forum in UAE show much more understanding, realism on situation in Ukraine - Lavrov

ABU DHABI. Nov 15 (Interfax) - The level of realism in assessments of the Ukraine situation among the participants in the Middle Eastern Sir Bani Yas Forum is growing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"The forum is working on condition of non-disclosure of any details, but I think they will not be offended if I say that the answer to your question is positive. There is much more understanding and realism," Lavrov said, responding to a question as to whether the forum participants have shown more realism in their assessments of the situation in Ukraine and around it in comparison with the Russian minister's previous participation in the event.

Lavrov arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the international Sir Bani Yas Forum on Thursday. Talks between the Russian minister and the UAE's foreign minister, a talk with his counterpart from Egypt and a meeting with the former prime minister of Lebanon took place on the sidelines of the event earlier on Friday.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said the Sir Bani Yas Forum is a dialogue site where vital international issues are discussed "with the participation of leading politicians, analysis, representatives of the expert community from a broad range of countries."

Lavrov earlier attended the forum in 2022.
