Case of 7 Ukrainian servicemen participating in incursion into Kursk region directed to court - Russian Prosecutor General's Office

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - The Second Western District Military Court will hear the case of seven Ukrainian servicemen, who took part in the Ukrainian incursion into the Kursk region and were captured by Russian forces, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said on Tuesday.

"The military prosecution service of the Moscow Military District has approved the bill of indictment in the criminal case of servicemen of the 202nd Battalion of the 103rd Territorial Defense Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Anatoly Voloshin, Vladimir Arshulik, Sergei Karayev, Alexander Doichuk, Zinovy Sigerich, Andrian Kulbaba and Oleg Vovk," the office said.

The case was directed to the Second Western District Military Court to hear its merits.

The Ukrainian servicemen are charged with comprising to commit a terror attack with grave consequences.

"According to investigators, the Ukrainian servicemen armed with automatic rifles, heavy weapons and explosive devices breached the sovereignty of the Russian Federation and illegally crossed into the Korenevo district of the Kursk region for terrorist purposes in early August this year," the office said.

According to the office, the defendants organized firing positions and a command post in a seized private building in the district. "Acting against the authorities and local self-government bodies of the Russian Federation, they repeatedly fired for effect at Russian troops and civilians, prohibited the latter from relocating and using phones, and hindered their evacuation," the office said.

Russian troops captured the defendants on September 13-15.

The Leninsky District Court in Kursk placed them under arrest.
