Belarus awaiting Egyptian president's visit

MINSK. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has congratulated Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi on his 70th birthday, invited him to visit Minsk, and said he wished to discuss cooperation in atomic energy.

"The country under your leadership has a strong and constructive voice in the region, while actively contributing to de-escalation of tensions and finding peaceful solutions to conflicts. Establishing a just world order, security and stability are also of great importance to Belarus. Hopefully, the Middle East situation will allow us to pay an official visit to Minsk in the near future," the Belarusian presidential administration quoted the greetings.

"An in-person meeting will allow the sides to discuss further development of joint major projects, which are being successfully implemented with support of the Egyptian president, and to make plans for cooperation in new areas, such as peaceful uses of atomic energy, use of advanced technologies for building smart cities, and others," Lukashenko said.
