TBILISI. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili demands in her application filed with the Constitutional Court on Tuesday that the parliamentary elections of October 2024 be declared unconstitutional, the Georgian government's office said.
By law, the Constitutional Court has three days to process the presidential application and decide whether to start a legal proceeding. If the court agrees to hear the application, the proceeding will start in less than 30 days.
Georgian Dream ruling party Secretary General, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze told reporters that the application filed by Zourabichvili with the Constitutional Court "is totally unfounded and absurd."
"Perhaps, President Zourabichvili hopes that her application to the Constitutional Court can delay the procedure for recognition of its powers by parliament next Monday. Such presidential efforts are futile," Kaladze said.
