Erdogan does not approve of U.S. permission for Ukraine to use American missiles to strike inside Russia

ISTANBUL. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Ankara views Washington's decision to authorize Ukraine to fire long-range missiles to strike inside Russia as wrong and believes that all countries should exercise caution, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"We do not consider it a right decision, nor do we approve of it," Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying.

The step taken by U.S. President Joe Biden could be interpreted as a move to fuel the conflict even more, he said.

The New York Times reported citing sources on Sunday that Biden authorized Ukrainian forces to use ATACMS missiles to strike inside Russia.

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell also announced that the limitations on Ukraine using U.S. weapons to strike inside Russia were lifted.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on November 19 that the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched six U.S.-made ATACMS missiles upon a facility in the Bryansk region early on Tuesday and that Russian air defense forces downed five and damaged one of those missiles.
