UN urges parties to Ukraine crisis to take measures to de-escalate situation

NEW YORK. United Nations. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The United Nations finds it necessary that the parties to the Ukraine crisis take steps toward de-escalation as soon as possible, Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said at a press briefing on Thursday.

"What we want to see is that all parties take urgent steps to de-escalate the situation. Obviously, to ensure, we've said many times, to protect civilians [...] and critical civilian infrastructure," Dujarric said.

The UN is hoping that the conflict will be settled in accordance with UN General Assembly Resolutions, and international law rules and with due respect for territorial integrity, he said.
