MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee will hold consultations on Monday to discuss the appointment and termination of duties of Russian diplomatic representatives to foreign states and international organizations.
This issue tops the agenda of the committee's meeting published on the Federation Council's website.
No specific countries or organizations have been named, but it is known that Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who oversees relations with countries of North and South America, disarmament, arms control and efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem, will deliver a report at the consultations.
The post of Russia's ambassador to the United States is currently vacant. This appointment is pending. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said recently that Russia has chosen its new ambassador to the U.S. and the appointment is possible in the foreseeable future.
