Russian Defense Ministry reports destroying Ukrainian U.S.-made howitzer in LPR

MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - Artillery units from Russia's western group of forces have destroyed a U.S.-made howitzer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Using a UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle] in a forested area in the special military operation zone in the LPR, troops from a reconnaissance unit of the 25th Combined Arms Army of the western group of forces detected a camouflaged M198 howitzer and a field ammunition load of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," it said.

Artillery strikes destroyed the U.S.-made M198 howitzer and the ammunition load, it said.

The ministry also published footage showing artillery strikes upon the Ukrainian howitzer on Friday.
