KABUL. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), which controls Afghanistan, expects Moscow to help Kabul neutralize any pressure from Western countries, the Afghan interim government's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar said.
"We have done our best to ensure conditions for enhancing the exports of Afghan goods abroad and raising foreign investment for Afghanistan. As you know, following the victory of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the U.S. and countries of the West have been exerting all possible pressure on us. That is why, we have been waiting for the Russian Federation to help us neutralize this pressure," Baradar said at a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.
"We can assure you that the Islamic Emirate is a reliable economic partner. Our security agencies have done a great deal to stabilize the situation [...]. As a result of their efforts, Islamic State [a terrorist group banned in Russia] was destroyed in Afghanistan and relocated to other countries," he said.
Russia's delegation, which also includes Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, held four meetings on Monday with senior Afghan officials, such as Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Abdul Kabir, Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar, Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqoob, and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani.
