TBILISI. Dec 3 (Interfax) - European integration remains a foreign policy priority for Georgia, and its government stands ready to sign a document on launching European Union membership negotiations at any moment, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
"European policymakers and we should work together to restore the European Union's reputation, which has been tarnished in the eyes of Georgian public. European integration is our foreign policy priority, and we stand ready to sign a document on launching negotiations on EU membership at any moment, but only with dignity and justice and without blackmail," Kobakhidze said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
He said he expected a reset in Georgia's relations with the EU following U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
Kobakhidze said he was willing to meet with demonstrators in Tbilisi, who have been protesting against the Georgian government's decision to halt EU membership negotiations.
"We are prepared for such a meeting, and if it takes place, we'll present our arguments and they theirs," Kobakhidze said.
