Police searching offices of Georgian opposition parties - media

TBILISI. Dec 4 (Interfax) - The police are carrying out searches at the offices of the United National Movement and Coalition for Change opposition parties, Georgian media said.

Police officers are not allowing the parties' leaders, who have arrived at the site, to enter the offices.

"The police are conducting searches at the offices of several parties and non-governmental organizations. This is an attempt to intimidate the opposition," a Coalition for Change leader, Nika Melia, told journalists.

Such acts by the authorities will prompt protests in Georgia to expand, Melia said.

The Georgian Interior Ministry is yet to offer its official comment.
