MOSCOW. Dec 6 (Interfax) - The Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force have eliminated at least 300 militants by bombing and delivering missile strikes on concentrations, command posts and shelters of militants to repel a terrorist aggression in the Idlib, Hama and Aleppo provinces, deputy head of Russian Center for Opposing Sides in Syria Capt. 1st rank Oleg Ignasyuk said.
"Aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force have bombed and fired missiles at concentrations, command posts and shelters of militants in the past 24 hours. At least 300 militants, nine multiple rocket launchers, seven tanks, 28 armored combat vehicles, 14 trucks, a command post, an ammo depot, and a drone depot were destroyed," Ignasyuk said at a press briefing.
Anti-governmental forces launched an offensive in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Aleppo last week. They took control of a number of populated localities.
Russia launched a military operation in Syria on September 30, 2015.
Russia operates the Hmeimim airbase and the Tartus naval station in Syria. A Russian squadron is permanently stationed in the Mediterranean. Planes and helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces support ground operations of the Syrian Army.
According to official information, special ops units of the Russian Defense Ministry, bodies of the Reconciliation Center, military police, marine and other units are operating in Syria.
