Minsk, Moscow reaching unprecedented level of allied relations in security - Lukashenko

MINSK. Dec 6 (Interfax) - The signing of the Security Concept of the Union State and the Treaty on Security Guarantees is bringing relations between Minsk and Moscow to an unprecedented level, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.

"The life itself is making us pay special attention to our countries' defense capabilities. We are reaching an unprecedented level of our strategic alliance and coordination of actions in the military sector upon the signing of the Security Concept of the Union State and the Interstate Treaty on Security Guarantees today," Lukashenko said at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Minsk on Friday.

The Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel broadcast the meeting live.

"It will enable preventing violations of the territorial integrity of Belarus and Russia, preserving our sovereignty and independence and, most importantly, creating the guarantees of a peaceful life for our citizens," Lukashenko said.

"Our intention to sign this treaty agitated our partners in the West too much. Perhaps it is not bad. They have noticed it," he said.
