MOSCOW. Dec 17 (Interfax) - A bill that allows excluding the Taliban from the list of organizations banned in Russia passed the second and third, final, readings at the State Duma on Tuesday.
"A ban on operations of an organization on the unified federal list of organizations, including foreign and international organizations, designated terrorist consistent with Russian legislation, may be suspended by a Russian court order or by a statement of the Russian prosecutor general or his deputy in case of factual information that the organization stopped conducting propaganda and justifying and supporting terrorism after being included in the list," the bill says.
Russian law currently does not provide for a mechanism for suspending a ban on activities of such an organization, and the amendments proposed in the legislation are aimed at eliminating said legal gap.
Corresponding amendments to the list of terrorist organizations will be made after a respective court order takes effect, the bill says.
