Abkhazia to intensify fight against crypto mining to save electricity - Abkhazia's acting PM

SUKHUM. Dec 23 (Interfax) - The Abkhaz authorities intend to intensify the fight against cryptocurrency mining to use Russian electricity more sparingly.

"More than 500 devices for cryptocurrency mining, which will be destroyed after a court decision, have recently been seized. And we plan to intensify the fight against mining," Valery Bganba, acting prime minister of Abkhazia and head of the headquarters on the fight against mining, told Interfax on Monday.

"The state security service, the police and, naturally, the energy workers are involved in this work. We are actively working with Internet providers, information provided by them helps determine the location of mining farms," Bganba said.

"The republic's administration is doing everything possible to use the humanitarian electrical power supplies from Russia as rationally as possible," he said.

"I want to express sincere gratitude on behalf of all people of Abkhazia to the supreme administration of Russia for assistance in a critical situation," Bganba said.
