Sevastopol resident sentenced to 11 years in high-security penitentiary for plotting terror attack - court

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don has found Sevastopol resident Konstantin Gorpinchenko guilty of plotting a terror attack and collaborating with the Security Service of Ukraine, the court press service said.

Gorpinchenko has been sentenced to 11 years in a high-security penitentiary, the press service said.

"It was found that on the night of October 31, 2023, Gorpinchenko, carrying bottles with improvised incendiary liquid, approached two railway relay cabinets and planned to set fire to them but failed to finish the crime because his illegal actions were stopped by security officers," it said.

Gorpinchenko was ordered to set fire to relay cabinets and buy the incendiary liquid by an officer of the Security Service of Ukraine, the press service said, adding that he sent a letter to the service's official address and expressed the readiness to cooperate.

He was convicted of terror attack conspiracy and confidential cooperation with a foreign state.
