Kotovsk in Russia's Tambov region declares emergency after drone strike

VORONEZH. Jan 13 (Interfax) - An emergency has been declared in Kotovsk in the Tambov region where Ukrainian drones hit residential buildings the day before, the regional government's press service said.

"A local emergency has been declared in Kotovsk," the press service said.

The aftermath is being cleaned up. Streets adjacent to the attack scene have been cleaned and reopened for traffic. Street lighting in the affected neighborhoods has been fixed.

"At the moment, collapse of load-bearing structures has been excluded. Heat, water and electricity supply to houses affected by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' terrorist attack has been restored. Gas networks have been checked, and gas supply to a residential building has been allowed," the press service quoted acting Urban Development and Architecture Minister, Chief Architect of the Tambov region Alexander Filatov as saying.

Two Ukrainian drones attacked Kotovsk in the early hours of January 11, damaging two residential buildings. Seven people were hurt, including three by glass shivers and four who suffered high blood pressure. They refused to be hospitalized. A shelter opened, but residents of the affected apartments said they would be staying with their relatives.
