Armenian General Staff chief taking part in NATO Military Committee meeting

YEREVAN. Jan 16 (Interfax) - Armenian General Staff Chief Lieut. Gen. Edvard Asryan is taking part in a meeting of the NATO Military Committee held in Brussels in the format of General Staff chiefs from NATO members and partner states, the Armenian Defense Ministry's press service said in a statement.

"A delegation led by Armenian First Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff Lieut. Gen. Asryan is paying a working visit to Brussels on January 15-17 to attend a meeting of the NATO Military Committee in the format of General Staff chiefs from NATO members and partner states," the statement said.

The meeting aims to raise the awareness of current global and regional threats and challenges and to search for joint solutions towards their mitigation, it said.

It also addresses sustainability of critical infrastructure elements amid climate change, widespread instability, new disruptive technologies, and hybrid and cyber threats, as well as the participation of partner states in NATO-led operations and missions, the statement said.
