SUKHUM. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The Abkhaz Central Elections Commission (CEC) registered Adgur Khurkhumal, board chairman of the Black Sea Development Bank, as a presidential candidate at its meeting on January 16, CEC member Alyas Brandzia told journalists.
The Abkhaz CEC previously registered Vice President Badra Gunba, leader of the opposition Abkhaz People's Movement Adgur Ardzinba, former Abkhaz trade representative to Russia Oleg Bartsits, and former Control Chamber chief Robert Arshba as presidential candidates.
An early presidential election in Abkhazia is slated for February 15.
Pundits view Gunba and Ardzinba as the principal favorites in the presidential campaign.
