KURSK. Jan 20 (Interfax) - The military prosecution service of the Moscow Military District has approved bills of indictment in the criminal cases of ten Ukrainian servicemen who invaded the Kursk region, the Prosecutor General's Office said on Monday.
They are charged with terror attack conspiracy with severe consequences.
According to investigators, the troops armed with automatic weapons and explosive devices illegally crossed into the Glushkovo, Korenevo and Sudzha districts of the Kursk region on a terrorist mission in early August last year.
They built observation and firing positions connected with an integral reconnaissance, firing and communication system in belts of trees in order to block and control populated localities, the office said.
"They mined roads and areas, repeatedly fired for effect at Russian troops and civilians, prohibited their relocation and hindered their evacuation, thus exerting pressure on the authorities and local self-government bodies," it said.
All the defendants were captured by Russian forces in August-October last year and are being held in custody.
The criminal cases were directed to the 2nd Western District Military Court for hearing their merits.
