MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Relations between Russia and China do not depend on domestic political factors and current global trends, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"We build our ties based on friendship, mutual trust and support, equitability, and reciprocal benefit. These ties are self-sufficient. They don't depend on domestic political factors and current global trends," Putin said in a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping via videoconference.
"Their multifaceted reinforcement fully meets the goals of Russia's and China's comprehensive development and enhancement of the two nations' wellbeing," he said.
Last year was productive for both Russia and China, Putin said. He thanked Xi for supporting Russia's presidency of BRICS.
"We also coordinate our steps on other multilateral platforms, such as the United Nations and its Security Council, the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization], the Group of 20, and APEC [Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation]. We both favor building a more just multipolar world order and work together to ensure indivisible security on the Eurasian territory and the world on the whole," Putin said.
"It can be said confidently that Russia's and China's foreign policy relations and joint work objectively play an important stabilizing role in international affairs," Putin said.
