MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will launch a program aimed to reinforce the Tajik-Afghan border this year, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said in Moscow on Thursday.
"The program includes specific measures to ensure security in the CSTO southern zone of operations," Tasmagambetov said at a meeting, which discussed performance of the CSTO Secretariat and Joint Staff in 2024 and tasks for 2025. Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Andrei Serdyukov attended the meeting.
Documents concerning the supply of existing and prospective weapons and military hardware to branches of the CSTO Collective Forces were discussed and signed in 2024, Tasmagambetov said.
He said the CSTO closely interacted with international organizations and held joint exercises last year.
Now, the CSTO is drafting a plan for key areas of activity in 2025, Tasmagambetov said.
The CSTO comprises Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
