Ukrainian machine gunner who shot and killed 3 captured Russian troops in Kursk region to stand trial in Moscow

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - The Main Military Prosecution Service has forwarded the case of a Ukrainian machine gunner, who shot and killed three captured Russian troops in the Kursk region, to a court, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement on Thursday.

"A bill of indictment has been approved in the criminal case of Alexander Gusak, machine gunner of the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the statement said.

Gusak shot and killed three captive Russian troops in a belt of trees in the Korenevo district of the Kursk region in August 2024, it said.

Besides, "Gusak took part in armed attacks, blocking and holding of populated localities, fired at residential buildings, schools, hospitals, stores, banks and other civil infrastructure elements, and intimidated local residents," it said.

He has been detained and is under arrest.

The Ukrainian serviceman is charged with terror attack causing death.

The criminal case was directed to the 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow for hearing its merits, it said.
