MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian air attacks more than 1,000 kilometers deep inside Russia are inflicting certain damage on the country's infrastructure, which needs to be compensated for, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
"The enemy is constantly trying to carry out military actions on the territory of our country. The goal is clear: to reduce the potential of our armed forces and to weaken the economy of the state, and sometimes just to scare people, when civilian infrastructure facilities are attacked," Medvedev said at a meeting of the working group of the Military-Industrial Commission on control over the production of popular weapons and military and industrial hardware held during his visit to the Bryansk region.
"As a result of air attacks deep inside, which sometimes go 1,000 kilometers deep, the domestic infrastructure, naturally, suffers certain damage, which we need to compensate for," he said.
There is enough work in this area, bearing in mind that "the enemy is not stopping, attacks continue," Medvedev said.
The meeting of the working group addressed issues relating to the protection of industrial infrastructure facilities, as well as the Gosrezerv storage facilities. At the start of the meeting, Medvedev said his visit had included a visit to the Bryansk Chemical Plant named after the 50th anniversary of the USSR, which had recently been attacked with various weapons.
"We needed to look at the situation, and we generally agreed to go back to this issue," he said, adding that he has recently reported to the president on all these issues and certain orders have been issued.
