Over 60% of Russians view Russia as one of world's technological leaders - poll

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Almost two-thirds of Russians, or 65%, view Russia as a technological leader, the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) said on its website on Monday.

The share stood at 55% four years ago, the pollster said.

Respondents were free to give any number of answers to the question about the areas of Russia's leadership. Fifty-five percent said it was leading in military technologies, 52% in nuclear energy, 37% in space technologies, 20% in medicine and biotechnologies, and 14% in chemistry, artificial intelligence and communicati0ns each, the pollster said.

Thirteen percent of respondents believe that Russia leads in machine building, and 12% say it is a leader of robotics, the pollster said.

VCIOM polled 1,600 respondents older than 18 by phone nationwide on January 24, 2025.
