Russia, India expanding energy cooperation despite sanctions - Russian deputy FM

MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Russia and India are expanding energy cooperation despite the U.S. sanctions, and Russia is taking proper countermeasures, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.

"We are closely monitoring the efforts taken by Washington in the region to discredit Russia as a reliable energy supplier of India. We are taking proper countermeasures on our part," Rudenko said in an interview with Interfax on Diplomat's Day observed on February 10.

"Despite sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies on Russian oil, ships and insurance agents, the scope of our energy cooperation with India is rapidly expanding and joint investment projects are being implemented to prospect, extract and refine oil and gas," he said.
